Hello readers! I am originally from Vanderhoof, British Columbia and then at the beginning of my university career, I got up and moved an hour away to start a new journey at UNBC in Prince George. I have really found my home here on the traditional and unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh in Prince George and have the privilege to share it with amazing friends, family and fellow lifelong learners.

For a little about me, I grew up in a big family and am the oldest of five children. Throughout my childhood and young adult life, my family vacations were amazing outdoor adventures to places such as the canoeing the Bowron Lakes, hiking Mount Robson and houseboat trips on Stuart Lake. Due to experiences such as these, I am a huge outdoor enthusiast and crave my time outdoors. I am also a huge animal lover, which became a part of me during my time on our family farm and creating relationships with all different kinds of animals. These experiences while growing up have really helped shape who I am, and also who I want to become.

One thing about me that has helped during my ongoing university career is how I am an avid reader. In my undergrad I studied English and here my love for reading really shined. Now, as a future educator, this skill has encouraged me to become a lifelong learner. When I want to know more, I turn to the advice and knowledge of others through reading.

I cannot express how excited and grateful I am to be in the UNBC B.Ed program and continue on to becoming an educator. I come from a family of teachers and I truly feel that education is the path for me. Being an educator is not just a job, for me it’s a lifestyle dedicated to constantly learning. I am genuinely excited to share knowledge, make connections and grow with not only my students but also my colleagues. I believe that there is always something to learn from others, and I am excited to see the light and perspective that the people in my learning community bring.

Bring on this new adventure!
